Persistence
1 minute read

Yesterday I went to a business trade show and it was an enlightening experience. For the past three years I have been building a dream, excuse me, building a business and it’s been one of the most difficult yet exciting things I’ve done.

The event was filled with rows of tables with businesses of all kinds. I couldn’t believe that I was in this space.

Was I organized enough?

Is my business a good business to be in this space?

Do I have what it takes to be successful in business?

Am I good enough?

Those were some of the thoughts running through my mind as I walked through the room. But as I gathered myself, took a deep breathe, and found my table, I was reminded of all of the lives that have been impacted by what God has called me to do. My silent prayer was answered as I continued to take steps. I was at peace, “You’ve got this.”is what I heard Him whisper.

The trade show had breakout sessions with some amazing presenters. As I listened to their presentations, God continued to reassure me that I was right where I needed to be and doing what I need to do. The only thing that stood out to me, and it’s what I want to share with you today-we must be PERSISTENT.

I know, persistence isn’t always a favorite word for many people, but honestly, it’s how we get what we want and achieve our goals. One of the speakers was especially dynamic and she continued to put emphasis on the importance of not taking silence, rejection, no call backs, return emails, “No” as a sign to give up or retreat from what you’re pursuing.

Make the calls. Write the book. Say yes to that man and marry him. Go back to school. Quit that job. Pursue that position. Forgive. You maybe asking “What are you saying, Adelai?” And my response is……Whatever it is you want out of life is yours, but you must be persistent in your pursuit of it.
